  • Always ask the buyer if s/he wants to donate a plant to your project. Make sure to note 100% of the donation goes toward your garden!
  • To assist the buyer who is helping to support your project, offer to drop off their order on the plant sale pick up day.
  • Who wants to buy or donate a native plants? Ask your neighbors, teachers, family members, garden club members, church members, or co-workers.
  • Before you begin to sell, look over the brochure and select a plant that is your favorite and perhaps learn an interesting fact about your personal pick. This will help to give you another point to talk about during your sale.
  • The lists below are important selling points for native plants. Being well informed on your product will help you to sell more plants!

Reasons to buy a Native Plant

  • Georgia native plants have inhabited the area since pre-Columbian times are acclimated to Georgia’s climate, soil type and weather. Thus they are more drought tolerant, require less maintenance, and are sustainable.
  • Native plants are active members in their ecosystem, unlike nonnative.
  • They share a biological history with the native birds, butterflies, bees, pollinators and other wildlife and therefore support their vital habitat.
  • A garden with native plants is a happier, healthier, more sustainable garden with a higher yield of fruits, veggies and blooms.
  • Plants create breathable air, filter our water and capture sunlight turning it into energy via photosynthesis. Plants are at the bottom of our food pyramid shouldering all other life forms.

Reasons to plant in the Fall

  • Roots are the most vital organ of a plant, and roots grow quickly in both the Fall and Spring.
  • Fall planting allows the plants to put all their energy toward grounding themselves with a strong root system.
  • Giving native plants two seasons to establish their roots means:
    1. Your strong, sustainable, and drought-tolerant native plants will require less watering during the punishing Georgia Summer.
    2. Plants will grow more, and produce more nectar and seeds for native pollinators and wildlife. Happy pollinators turn your back yard into an active healthy ecosystem with a higher yielding vegetable garden!
