Hammonds House Museum project 03

Hammonds House Museum:

Hammonds House Museum (HHM) is a fine arts museum housed in an Eastlake style Victorian structure, built around 1870. The museum was founded in 1988 as a 501(C3) organization in honor of the house’s last residential occupant, Dr. Otis Thrash Hammonds a prominent Atlanta physician and avid arts patron.

HHM is an educational reservoir for Fulton County residents of all ages and serves as a unique cultural ambassador to countless visitors from around the world. HHM presents changing exhibitions and cultural programming to support its artistic mission and educational objectives. The museum has an extensive Permanent Collection that is often displayed between exhibitions and used for educational workshops.

The facility and gardens are frequented by museum visitors and enjoyed by persons who rent the facility for special occasions.

The Objective:

To develop an aesthetically appealing garden sanctuary composed of native plants that will provide a natural Ecosystem based on prescribed environmental conservation practices.   The Green Gardening Project will support an extensive educational program that ranges from signage for visitor viewing to in-depth studies and research. To become a green space model on behalf of Fulton County Government through best practices and various natural habitat certifications.
