A Fall to Remember
The November planting of the DHS garden was a great way to end the BBB’s 2011 Fall planting season. We had students from the DHS Beekeeper Club, Key Club, ROTC, and Volleyball team all out there moving compost, amending the soil, laying out plants and planting. The garden is 3000 sq ft and sits on a busy corner of Decatur. The garden may not look like much now but over the next 5 months all the plants are going to be focusing their energy downwards and establishing their roots. In Spring 2012 the garden is going to come alive with color and, as designed by the students, the garden will have color all year long (Spring, Summer and Fall). Big Thanks going out the the students of the DHS Beekeepers Club, the DHS Community Garden volunteers, Anya our dedicated Key Club member, Cafe Lily for the amazing fundraisers and delicious BBB dish in the month of Oct and especially to Ms. Wade and Mrs. Loupe for all their guidance on the project. The garden is on the corner of Commerce Dr and W Howard in Decatur. Drive by it now and get ready to be amazing in the Spring!

A Successful Spring for an Upcoming Fall of Planting
It was a great Spring of native plant sales for the Decatur High School’s Bee Keeper Club, which raised over $500 for their pollinator garden project. This coming Fall their project ideas will be put into action with DHS Bee Keeper students and DHS Community Garden gardeners creating a plan and setting work day dates for the proposed 1000 square foot pollinator garden on the corner of Commerce Dr. and W Howard Ave (near the wagon wheel). Check back for more plan details and Fall planting dates.
