Measuring Visit 9/16/11

EcoAddendum is excited to be working with Mrs. Caldwell’s 8th grade class on the Paideia Native Garden Project. Last Friday we meet for our measuring visit.  It was a bit cold but we finish up the measuring and realized that the garden space looks like a tomahawk, half in shade and half in the sun.  See photos above. This is going to be a lovely location with a wide range of plant diversity.  If you would like to give to the Paideia Naitve Garden Project you can donate a plant via the donation button above (make sure to indicate it is for Paideia) or come out to the plant sale on Oct 21st. Learn why planting in the Fall is the best, buy a plant(or two) for your garden  and donate one to the Paideia Garden. Remember 20% of every plant sold on Oct 21st goes to the Paideia Garden and 100% of every plant DONATED goes to the Paideia Garden Project!!

The Paideia Green Team is a club that is committed to raising environmental awareness on the Paideia campus and in the greater community.  Through the Green Team, students, parents and teachers work together on sustainable projects that have a lasting and positive impact on our environment that will be of benefit for us now and for future generations.

One of our current projects is to create a native species school garden that will encourage wildlife such as birds, butterflies and other pollinators.  We hope this garden will foster an appreciation for natural habitats and provide hands on learning opportunities for our students.  Parents and students will actively participate in the development and planning of the school’s native plant garden.

The Paideia Green Team will host a Earth Day Fair on Friday, April 22nd from 12pm – 4pm.  There will be garden demonstrations, environmental booths and a native plant sale.  20% of every plant sold will go to the Paideia Green Team Native Species School Garden Fund.
